A Million Little Things: CUCKOO!

Bird House in Luxembourg

I turned a corner while walking about in the city center area and this was my view… it looked like a space especially created for a Cuckoo Clock Bird who was tired of calling out the time or something. Just out of a novel… an evil and beautiful one!

This is my ongoing series… I realized that often when I walk around Luxembourg I see things that stand out for me visually… sometimes because they are colorful or surprising or delightful, but sometimes just because they stay in my head for hours later.

A Million Little Things: AMBER

Sunlight caught in Autumn leaves

Some street somewhere in Luxembourg…  its really cold these days and this day was no different. Even the sun here is misleading because it does not help at all! BUT it does make some things (like these leaves) almost glow from the inside… that’s what made me stop, pull off the gloves and pull out my camera. The color! ❤

A Million Little Things: ART FOR EVERYONE

Another favorite little discovery in Luxembourg… this passage is one of the most unexpected things for me in the city. It leads to an elevator cut into the hillside which takes you from the picturesque ‘Grund’ area up to a main street above. What is awesome about it is the fact that the passage has art on both sides. It features some incredible, thought-provoking work and each piece is very different from the others. The passage even ends at a giant notice board next to the elevator with notices, pub announcements and all matters of advertisements up on it… such a fun space created out of what could have been a drab public utility.

A Million Little Things: FEATHERS

This beautiful installation is right next to my French class in ‘Parc Monterey’ and it really stands out. They look like feathers of some kind and the design gets my mind racing every single time I look at it… what could it have meant to whoever designed it? Did the artist mean to create a contrast between the freedom of birds and nature and the limitations of a cage? It’s just gorgeous to me!

Any thoughts anyone?

A Million Little Things: WELCOME

Traffic light where someone has put a sticker that says ‘Refugees Welcome’. What’s not to love about that?!

A Million Little Things: A WATCHFUL PAIR

This a corner I cross pretty much daily on my way to the closest bus stop and I love the way these two trees look so totally out of place and so interesting. They look like they’re almost guarding the scooters and bikes standing below

A Million Little Things: KINDNESS

This is the sign for a shop or business next door to us and the sign still surprises me every time I walk past. Plus it kind of reminds me of how KIND the people of this city have been to us over the last two weeks of settling down
